Colleges, departments, programs and student organizations are encouraged to design communications, marketing and branding programs, websites and events with accessibility in mind. The resources on this page will guide you to optimal solutions to address the needs of disabled members of our community.

Disability Resource Center

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) leads the campus in a progressive and proactive approach to accessibility. You’ll find a wealth of guides and resources on drc.arizona.edu and accessibility.arizona.edu, including specific topics related to communications and marketing needs.

Publicizing the Availability of Accommodations

Including a statement about the availability of accommodations is a way of creating a welcoming environment. By encouraging advance inquiries, you can identify any needed accommodations early so that they can be implemented in a seamless fashion. Below are four model statements. You should be able to adopt one of them for almost any situation.

Model Statements

To appear on calendars, posters, flyers and other announcements or advertising for the event:

"With questions about access or to request any disability-related accommodations in this {insert text: workshop, training, seminar} such as ASL interpreting, closed-captioning, wheelchair access, or electronic text, etc., please contact {Event Planner's name and email or phone number}."

To appear as text on pages if you are not sure of usability:

"To request an alternate format of this content for disability-related access, please contact {Content Owner's name and email or phone number}."

To appear on catalogs, brochures and other University publications:

"If you need this information in an alternate format (Braille, digital, tape or large print) please contact {insert name and contact information including an e-mail or TTY number}."
